Community Empowerment
Culture Shock ® Chicago’s outreach programs are designed to offer families and youth the opportunity to experience hip hop dance as a positive activity and an outlet for personal expression. We strive to create opportunities where youth can feel confident, empowered and successful through learning and performance.
Annually, we proudly collaborate with community partners, such as the Walk for Alzheimer's, Junior League of Chicago at the Women's Treatment Center, CPS After School Programs and the Albany Park Community Center. In addition, Culture Shock Chicago partners with the DEA Educational Foundation Youth Dance Program to provide a free and positive alternative to drugs through the fun, healthy and expressive art form of dance. Through these amazing community collaborations, Culture Shock reaches thousands of youth and adults through instructional workshops, assembly and outreach programming and professional performances focusing on:

Culture Shock Chicago serves a diverse population throughout the city and strives to meet the artistic and cultural needs of these groups. We tailor our programming to fit different ages, physical ability levels and cultures. We continue to use Hip Hop dance as a medium to explore difficult and sometimes uncomfortable social topics and create new conversations, ideas and pathways to better understanding our community and each other. Our outreach programming remains a cornerstone for our organization and we continue to build our communities from within.
As always, it’s not just about the performance for us….we work twice as hard to bring dance to our youth and families in our community and we are honored to shape the next generation.
